And now Ana.
Monday, April 10: Dinner show
Ana performs "Higher," a cha cha, during the dinner show. In the past, the team has had someone cater the event, but inflation made it too expensive to do that. Instead, parents and coaches cooked a million pounds of pasta, and the plan was to heat that and all the sauce up at the school. Oh, boy. Let's just say more than one person ate cold pasta. Almost everyone was gracious about it, and the plan for next year is to NOT do a dinner show.
Ana performs "Rainbow Connection," a waltz, with the Mini Bees. This little group of kids didn't have enough partners, so some of the high school kids stepped in.
Ana performs "Don't Slack," a jive/swing/lindy.
Ana performs the Elvis medley, a Latin medley. Seth had given her a big double thumbs-up from the stand, so Ana reciprocated.
Ana performs "Gitchee Gitchee Goo," a swing with the older class of mini bees. Although this class had many more participants, they didn't have very many boys, so the high school kids became partners for the girls.
Ana chucks her dog during "I Need You," a lindy.
Monday, May 22: Choir concert
Ana signs along to the words of "Ain't No Grave" sung by the Bonnevaires. The choir needed someone with knowledge of ASL to participate in their closing number, and Ana's friend Addy reached out. Ana learned the signs the kids were using for the chorus and got the rest of the lyrics down so she could sign along to the entire song.
Wednesday, May 24: End of year show
Ana performs Divas and Dorks, a west coast/swing medley. The concert was on Ana's birthday, so Seth made sure to call out "Happy Birthday, Ana!" before the lights came on for this number.
Ana performs "Higher," a cha cha, during the end of year show.
Ana performs "Don't Slack," a jive/swing/lindy.
Ana performs "Rainbow Connection," a waltz, with the Mini Bees. Those lights are my favorite!
"Hold My Hand," a Viennese waltz cabaret.
"Vive," a samba.
"A Thousand Years," a Viennese waltz. In case you hadn't noticed, Ana performed many, many dances that night. That's what happens when you're on the gold show team, the medley team, the varsity cabaret team and you perform with both groups of mini bees.
Awards for the gold team. Ana was an alternate for one medley song, which is why she's dressed differently than all the other girls in this shot.
Ana dances "LOVE," a foxtrot, with the mini bees. Her partner in this shot is Charlotte Westover, one of our neighbors.
"Sticks and Stones," a novelty dance. Every other performance of this song was done in the light, but to jazz it up for their end of year show, they added glow sticks to their costumes and turned out the lights.
The Elvis medley, a Latin medley. At the end of the night, Ana was named as the gold team captain for the 2023-2024 season.
