I had a little bit of time yesterday while Bekah was with my parents, Ana was asleep, and Andrea was visiting with her mom. I was feeling a little bored and a little exhibitionistic. I considered streaking, but decided that recording a few songs for the interwebs is less cold and more legal, whilst still retaining most of the unpleasantness for the witnesses. So here they are!

This is "Light of Day" (or, as my wife calls it, "Tooele"). It's first song I ever wrote about a girl. It was the summer between my sophomore and junior years of high school. I went to Especially For Youth at Ricks College for a week, and got a crush on a girl I met there. She was a year older than me, and she held my hand, and she was female, so I was smitten. (I remember her name, but to save her the embarrassment of possibly coming across this someday, I'll keep that little bit of information to myself.) I came home and wrote this song. Bekahism #13

Bekah: Mom, would you please pray to God and ask Him to move our house?
Andrea: (Positively baffled) Why do you want me to ask Him to move our house?
Bekah: So it can go up to heaven.
Andrea: That's not how we get to heaven, Bekah. We get to heaven by keeping the commandments and being nice to other people and choosing the right.
Bekah: (Exasperated) But, Mom! I keep the commandments and be nice to other people and choose the right ALREADY, and I'm still not in heaven!

Easter Dresses

We took it pretty easy this Easter. Our family is not an active participant in the whole Easter Bunny thing, so when a couple of people asked Bekah if the Bunny came to her house, she stared at them blankly.

But the girls did enjoy their new Easter dresses, and we had a lovely time eating Easter Sunday lunch at Seth's grandma's house, followed by Easter Sunday dinner at my parents' house. Life is good when you have so many relatives nearby.

And just so you don't report us to the authorities, we're not TOTAL Easter grinches; we let Bekah and Ana eat a few jelly beans too.
