Miriam patiently waited out the quarantine to experience a Grover girl rite of passage on June 17: getting her ears pierced near her 10th birthday. Instead of going to the mall like we did for the older girls, we went to the local tattoo/piercing parlor, which was an entirely different experience. (Burly man using a needle to quietly open up the lobe for the earring versus a bubbly young lady noisily punching a post through the lobe. Also, the tattoo parlor charged half as much at the mall store.) We followed up the piercing with a Jamba Juice and some earring shopping at the mall.
