Winter miscellany

Friday, November 28: Escape room and dinner

Posing as a family after completing the Mob Boss Break-in escape room in Rexburg during the last weekday of Thanksgiving break. This was supposed to be Miriam's mommy/daddy/daughter date, but she wanted everyone to come.

The family eats dinner together at Cup Bop following the escape room. Instead of going out for a treat (which is customary after a date), Miriam floated the idea of getting dinner instead. We paid the ridiculously low price of $20ish for the five of us to eat because of a punch pass and their Black Friday BOGO.

Sunday, November 30: Thanksgiving in D.C. and apartment Christmas decor

Nathan hangs out with Teddy at Kent and Melissa's home in Washington, D.C. The Navy Grovers had moved to D.C. just barely before the holiday, and they invited Rebekah and Nathan to stay with them over Thanksgiving.

Ana's baby Christmas tree in her apartment in Rexburg. We didn't have a permit to cut it, so I guess we poached this tree when we went hunting for ours in Mike Spence Canyon. Ana borrowed a bucket and decorations from home so her college apartment could have some Christmas cheer. Her roommates couldn't believe that she brought up a real tree.

Thursday, December 4: Dinner date

Seth and Andrea pose with their plethora of sauces at Super Chix while on a date.

Friday, December 5: Five Nights

Ana, Miriam and Winnie cosplay while going to the new Five Nights at Freddy's movie.

Wednesday, December 10: Chesapeake Bay Brass Band

Rebekah rehearses with her community band. The Chesapeake Bay Brass Band is a British brass band, so Rebekah had to work on reading a different clef.

Rebekah and Nathan eat dinner at Waffle House.

 Thursday, December 11: Christmas cat

Toad hangs out around the Christmas tree.

 Tuesday, December 16: Work dinner

Rebekah enjoys her fancy fancy dinner with workmates from Lyte, the nonprofit she works for.

Wednesday, December 17: Chuck-a-rama

Andrea and Miriam pose at Chuck-a-rama. Andrea helped chaperone the high school band kids as they drove from assisted living facility to assisted living facility. Then the whole group stopped at the buffet for lunch. Andrea was invited to sit at the cool kids' table (Miriam and her friends).

Thursday, December 18: Packing up and heading home

Ana uses craft paint to patch the part of her wall where the Command Strips took down a little bit of paint. Ana had packed up all her belongings at the end of the semester to come home.

Sunday, December 21: Escape room and dinner

Posing as a family after completing the Mob Boss Break-in escape room in Rexburg during the last weekday of Thanksgiving break. This was supposed to be Miriam's mommy/daddy/daughter date, but she wanted everyone to come.

Monday, December 22: Quilting

Andrea works on quilting the Christmas present she made for Rebekah and Nathan. I used fabric from the Nauvoo brass band costumes in the quilt and supplemented with other fabrics. This was the first quilt I quilted on my new Juki with a big throat that would fit a blanket of that size.

Tuesday, December 23: D.I. finds and Christmas presents

Winnie winks while holding a copy of a book titled Winnie Winkle at D.I.

The pins Ana made for Seth and Andrea for Christmas. Seth got the X Men pin; Andrea got the Kermit pin.

Wednesday, December 24: Dog walking and shenanigans

Dixie gets rained on (on Christmas Eve?!) while on a walk.

The Grover girls rearranged the letters over Grandma's door. I can't say that I've never done that before. ... Like mother, like daughters.

Thursday, December 25: Festive footwear and Peach

Andrea and Winnie wearing one of each of their shoes to be festive while playing music for the residents of Lincoln Court.

Seth pulling Peach in the cart on our walk. Peach had been limping for a while (arthritis), so we tried putting a pad in the cart and pulling her. This worked for a while, but then Peach decided she wanted to get out and didn't consult us first. This resulted in her taking a tumble from the cart.

Girls loving on Peach while she takes a rest in the laundry room.

Wednesday, December 31: One in and one out

Dixie sits on the porch while Peach sits near the back door.

Saturday, January 3: Milk for days

Andrea shows off the copious amounts of milk we bought for the milk and cookies bar at Rebekah and Nathan's reception. We ended up giving milk away after the reception because we bought too much.

Thursday, January 8: Before and after and more puppy cuddles

The state of the cupboard under the kitchen sink before Andrea reorganized it.

After buying some under-cabinet pullouts, the cupboard was much more organized.

Seth gets kisses from Peach while cuddling with her in the laundry room.

Saturday, January 10: Going to Utah

Seth poses majestically at the Arby's on our way to Utah for Rebekah and Nathan's second reception. We thought it was funny that this bench had no table.

Miriam and Winnie watch Ana play a videogame on her laptop at the hotel in American Fork.

Sunday, January 18: Warm head

Ana wears just the hood from Andrea's coat while waiting in the foyer after church.

Front view.

Tuesday, January 20: Another trip to D.C.

Rebekah and Nathan in the Library of Congress on a trip to D.C. The nation's capital is only a couple of hours away from them in Delaware, so they went several times.

Friday, January 23: Cat cuddles

Ana plays a game on her laptop in her bedroom while Toad sleeps on her lap.

Sunday, January 25: Grandpa's birthday

Grandpa Scott getting ready to blow the candles out on his German chocolate birthday cake after a family dinner to celebrate his birthday.

Everyone sings to Grandpa before he blows the candles out.

Monday, January 26: Another before and after

Winnie's braces the day she had them removed.

Winnie's beautiful straight teeth after getting the braces removed. Just so future posterity knows, she took these lovely wide-angle shots herself.

Wednesday, January 28: Handy girl

Winnie helps to remove the bracket from the wall in the living room. We replaced the curtains with roller shades.

Friday, January 30: Going for a ride

Winnie wears all three seatbelts in the back of the truck on our way to pick up Kelsey and go skiing at Kelly Canyon,

Dixie goes for a ride in the van with Seth.

Saturday, January 31: Puppy time

Seth cuddles with both dogs on the back porch.

Saturday, February 7: Another handy girl

Seth and Ana work together to replace the fan/light in Ana's bedroom.

Thursday, February 12: Coming home

Miriam and Winnie stop on Kathleen on their way home from school. Andrea and Ana saw the girls as they were walking the dogs, so Miriam stopped to say hi.

Friday, February 13: Cat nap and date night

Toad takes a nap on Ana's bed.

Seth and Andrea on their Valentine's date at Scotty's.

Saturday, February 14: Philly cheesesteaks in Philly

Rebekah and Nathan eat Philly cheesesteaks after going to the Philadelphia temple.

Sunday, February 15: Dog naps

Seth takes a nap in the yard with Peach and Dixie. He said the dogs would disrupt his sleep by continually "checking to make sure he was all right" and licking him.

Thursday, February 19: Exhibit night

Winnie poses next to the TV that displayed her National History Day project on Beatlemania during Praxium's exhibit night.

Friday, February 20: Whipped cream

Seth lined the girls up and filled their mouths with whipped cream from a can.

They thought it was funny.

Too funny.

Thursday, February 26: Virginia and the temple

Seth poses next to NASA's first hangar at Langley. He was in the Langley/Norfolk area for work.

Ana and Andrea pose outside the Idaho Falls temple after doing baptisms for the dead.

Kent and Seth eat seafood together in Norfolk. Coincidentally, Kent was in Norfolk for work the same week as Seth. They were able to meet together for dinner a couple of different nights.

The brothers pose outside a yacht ... store? Dealership?

Friday, February 27: Traveling

Rebekah and Nathan on their way to Utah for Nathan's grandma's funeral.

Monday, March 2: Another quilt

The quilt Andrea made from a beloved blanket that had gotten quite mangy over the years. The blanket became the batting as I pieced a top from scrap fabric I had and repurposed the curtains from the living room for the back.

Sunday, March 8: Mighty Grandpa

Grandpa Scott kicks a ball in the back yard after the family had dinner together. Easton really wanted Grandpa to kick the ball so he could chase it.

Sunday, March 15: Cooking dinner

Nathan and Rebekah cook dinner together at their apartment in Newark, Delaware.
