Winter miscellany

Friday, December 6: Ward Christmas party and tri-swords
Miriam and the other girls in the ward sing in the cultural hall after the ward finished eating dinner.

Miriam wields three swords (the decorative ones Seth bought at a garage sale) just like Zoro from the anime/manga One Piece.

Wednesday, December 11: Andrea and Toad

Andrea and Toad sit on the chair in the great room.

Saturday, December 14: Toad the techie, making up and puppy love
Toad helps Seth with some computer work in the shop.

Ana helps Miriam do her makeup for Christmas Classic.

EiNi and Winnie on Grandma Susan's couch.

Wednesday, December 18: Walkin'
Andrea and Peach go on a walk.

Sunday, December 22: She hits everything
Miriam drums on Toad's nose while Toad sits in Seth's lap.

Monday, December 30: Cheesin'
Winnie crumbles queso fresco while holding a piece of provolone in her mouth.

Friday, January 3: Snuggly boy
Seth reacts to Toad's purry sleep.

Saturday, January 11: Sister love and bandanas
Winnie and Miriam snuggle together.

Andrea and Seth wear the bandanas (only I think Seth's is actually a cravat?) that Rebekah made and sent us for Christmas.

Sunday, January 26: Grandpa's T-shirts
Everyone wears one of Grandpa's old T-shirts before Andrea cut them up for a T-shirt quilt. Grandpa's birthday was in January, so we had dinner and cake and took this picture before Andrea got to work on his T-shirt quilt as a birthday present.

Silly picture. Top row: Bennet, McKall, Canyon, Tyson, Miriam, Ana, Andrea, Oakley. Bottom row: Easton, Grandma Scott, Grandpa Scott, Seth, Winnie.

Tuesday, January 28: Toad's got your back
Toad balances on Winnie's back.

Wednesday, January 29: More walking
Andrea takes Peach on a walk.

Friday, January 31-Saturday, February 1: Lewiston
Andrea looks over the nachos she and Seth ordered at a restaurant in Lewiston. We traveled to the panhandle to see Ana participate in the all-state treble choir.

Andrea poses with the Clarkston Bantams at Clarkston High School. There's a good reason for this. When Andrea was a freshman at Rick's College, her roommate, Thresa, made fun of her high school mascot--the bee. So Andrea asked, "Well, what was your high school mascot?" Thresa replied, "The bantams" in a most chagrined manor. Andrea had to ask what a bantam was. "A fighting rooster," Thresa admitted. So when Seth and Andrea were killing time in Lewiston, they decided to cross the river into Washington, track down the high school and take pictures with these legendary bantams. Then Andrea sent a message on the group text that included several of her roommates from that year at Rick's just so we could laugh with Thresa.

Friday, February 7: They're not fighting, I promise
Winnie balances on Miriam's knees on Seth and Andrea's bedroom floor.

Saturday, February 8: Couch cuddling
Andrea takes Peach on a walk.

Sunday, February 9: Cat sitting
Andrea sits with Toad in the living room.

Miriam sits with Toad in the living room. There is a common theme in many of these photos.

Monday, February 10: Talking to Sister Grover
A screenshot of our weekly call with Rebekah while she served in Nevada.

Thursday, February 13: Men are from Mars
Seth tries standing up with his hands behind his back. Apparently this is something that women can do but men cannot.

Friday, February 14: Dr. Ian Malcolm, the Charleston, a cat foot and a date
A box full of Ian Malcolm Funko Pops at Big Deals Outlet. They were selling them for 30 cents each, and where Seth's project is called "Malcolm" for this particular character, Andrea bought a bunch of them so Seth could hand them out to others who work on the project with him.

Miriam dressed up in her Charleston costume before going to Lincoln Court to perform with the rest of the BHS ballroom team.

Toad's foot and tail stick out between Ana's body and arm.

Seth and Andrea eat super burritos from Los Alberto's and play games in the mall.

Sunday, February 16: D&D
Seth's setup for the family session of Dungeons and Dragons that Miriam, Winnie, Ana and Seth play (and Rebekah when she's not on a mission).

Thrusday, February 20: Praxium exhibit night
Seth uses the QR code to watch the video Winnie and her partner made for their project. Once a trimester, students at Praxium display their projects and answer questions about them.

Winnie's trifold board and model of ancient China.

Friday, February 21: Go Bees! and an object lesson
The BHS T-shirt quilt Andrea made for the ballroom fundraiser.

Copies of the Book of Mormon balanced on three knives balanced on three cups during an object lesson with the elders. We had had the elders over for dinner, and this was part of their lesson.

Sunday, February 21: Winnie's trick
Winnie crosses just one of her eyes.

Wednesday, February 21: Another walk
Seth walks Peach down South Derek.

Friday, February 28: Sledding hill
Miriam, Kaitlyn, Connor and Winnie link together to tube down the hill off of Sunnyside. Because we bought season passes to Kelly's we had a bunch of complimentary passes to this sledding hill complete with a magic carpet and a big track for the tubes to go down. We didn't make it there until almost all the snow was gone from the flat areas, and we had so many passes that we brought a couple of Mirian's friends and still ended up giving a few passes away at the park. It was so much fun that we'll make sure to carve out a time to go next year.

Sunday, March 16: Kitty kisses
Toad kisses Ana's palm.

Monday, March 17: Ballroom fundraiser dinner

Ana eats an Uncrustables while lying on the floor of the BHS gym. We spent the evening helping at the fundraiser (overseeing the raffle), and Ana took a well deserved break on the floor.

Dances

Saturday, February 22: Sweetheart Ball

Miriam chose to go stag with a group of ballroom friends. Ana went with Logan Burton, a choir friend. Ana's group came to our house for dinner and photos. Then Miriam's group stopped in for photos.

Ana's big group stuffed into our dining room. We made it work. One thing to remember for the future: Kids are dumb with fire. Maybe don't have the candles because they will start playing with it before the night is through.

Ana's group. It was immensely cold outside, so the kids would run out long enough to get their shot, then run back inside to get warm.

Ana and Logan. I bought that dress from Binlandia for $1.

Saturday, May 10: Prom

Miriam got set up with Blake Kerr so that her friend Brooke could go with Blake's brother, Carson. I shot about a million pictures of them at the Friendship Gardens. Ana went with Reese Voda, a classmate and friend from the musical. Ana started crocheting her prom dress top in the summer of 2024 for her senior project. Later she sewed the skirt, and later still she added the sleeves to the top.

Skiing, skiing and more skiing

We made the most of our season passes at Kelly Canyon. Every Saturday we assessed who wanted to/could go. Miriam didn't make it back up, but Seth, Andrea, Ana and Winnie went as often as we could. Ana joined the school's ski club so she could hop on the bus and go several times. Winnie proved to be a demon on the slopes and could turn 360s while headed down the hill.

Saturday, January 25

Winnie with the cold ravioli she packed for a lift snack.

Saturday, February 8

Andrea, Seth and Winnie on the lift.

Monday, February 17

Andrea and Ana spend a snowy Presidents Day at Kelly's.

Saturday, March 1

Winnie and Andrea.

Monday, March 24 (Cross country)

Ana and Andrea at Harriman. The trails weren't great by the time spring break rolled around, but we still enjoyed our time.

Ana dead in the snow. It was crazy-warm for skiing since it was so late in the season.

Tuesday, March 25

Winnie amazed at the nearly empty gear room. We enjoyed warm temps and empty slopes during our last time to Kelly's for the 2024-2025 season.
